Leadership Awards
The Task Force’s Leadership Awards events, including the Miami Recognition Dinner, pay tribute to community leaders, allies and organizations that fight for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people through their leadership, advocacy and action.
Our first gala in 2008 was in Seattle on January 12, followed by our New York Leadership Awards on Monday, April 7 at The New York Times Center. Not long after New York, our DC Leadership Awards take place on Saturday, May 3. In the fall we have our the Los Angeles Leadership Awards on September 21, and our Miami Recognition Dinner in October.
The events in Seattle, New York, Washington and Miami are dinners; the Los Angeles event is a brunch. To get additional information on specific events in your area, please click on the appropriate boxes to the left.
Past Leadership Award recipients include former South African President Nelson Mandela, Mrs. Coretta Scott King, Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Ted Kennedy, former Sens. Carol Moseley Braun and Tom Daschle, Bishop Gene Robinson, film producer Bruce Cohen, actors Wilson Cruz, Alec Mapa, Sir Ian McKellan and Mathew St. Patrick, comedian Margaret Cho, and the Indigo Girls, to name only a few.
